We have created over 50 Spotify playlists with over 100,000 total Spotify followers. Therefore, we are confident our tips will help grow your playlist, no matter the mood or genre.

Check out these eight ways to get more followers on your Spotify playlist and start growing your audience today!

1. Create a great playlist.

Obviously, the first and most important step to getting followers on your Spotify playlist is to create a great playlist. Your playlist should have a catchy name, a creative mix of songs, and a description with relevant keywords so that people can easily find it when they’re searching for new music. Including relevant search terms in the description is a great way to gain Spotify playlist followers organically over time.

The Spotify algorithm is a tough beast to tackle, I mean, even the order of songs in the playlist can affect the success and ranking of a playlist.

There is no fool-proof way to guarantee more Spotify playlist followers, however, here are three more key tips to help you create Spotify playlists that people will love:

Choose a theme.

Whether it's your favorite artist, genre, or era, choosing a theme will help you focus your playlist and make it more enjoyable for listeners.

Remember, there's no limit on how many Spotify playlists you can create! Therefore, don't be afraid to really hyper focus the theme and style!

Find the perfect balance.

A good playlist should have a mix of well-known hits and deeper cuts that listeners might not be familiar with. This will keep things interesting and engaging for everyone, as everybody loves to hear a great new song for the first time. This is definitely an important factor when learning how to create your own popular Spotify playlist.

Keep it fresh.

Regularly update your playlist with new songs to keep things sounding fresh and exciting. Ideally, playlist curators should update nearly all of their playlists on a weekly basis. This shows that you're actively listening to new music and curating the best of the best for your followers.

2. Make your playlist look nice.

Now that you know how to create and run your Spotify playlists, lets doll it up. Creating an image for you playlist is as key as a good thumbnail is to a YouTube video. You want an image that your target audience of listeners would feel inclined to show a positive emotion towards.

There are plenty of playlists that will pop up after typing a keyword or phrase into the Spotify search bar. Therefore, it is very important to have a fitting, high-quality, creative image to accompany your playlist.

more playlists curated with the best songs possible

For example, if you create a chill playlist with mostly R&B and slow-paced songs, incorporating a beach or other locations associated with relaxing may prove valuable. Meanwhile, if your playlist title mentions the best songs for the gym, you may want to have a motivational or upbeat image, like seen above.

What to name your Spotify Playlist:

After landing some artsy aesthetic playlist covers, you should also come up with "clickable" Spotify playlist names. Your Spotify playlist name should have the keyword you expect people to search, while also incorporating adjectives to describe the nature of the songs curated in the playlist. For example, sad playlist names would go well for downtempo music or cool playlist names involving a hip genre of music. For Spotify playlist name ideas, comment down below and we can assist! :)

3. Share your playlist on social media.

Once you’ve created your playlist, be sure to share it on social media. Post about it on your personal Facebook page, tweet about it, and even post it in relevant forums and online communities. The more people that see your playlist, the more likely they are to follow it.

Easily grow your Spotify follower count with social media ads

Additionally, as it is a common practice in the music industry, you could use paid advertisements to get the ball rolling. Utilizing paid advertising on Facebook or TikTok is a great way how to share liked songs on Spotify with those who may be interested. This is an effective way to reach a large number of potential playlist followers quickly.

Lastly, you can always find groups in the Spotify community that do what is known as "Spotify playlist exchange", but this is not always the most effective route. We like to think of that type of sharing as very similar the old "follow-for-follow" that took steam in the early days of social media.

These groups are mostly playlist curators who are all hoping for listeners on their own playlist, but are not excited to explore others. Therefore, although it is understandable curators want more playlist followers, we don't believe spamming an online group with links is the best way how to get Spotify followers.

4. Collaborate with other Spotify users.

One great way to get more followers for your Spotify playlist is to collaborate with other Spotify users. You can do this by finding other users with similar taste in music and adding their playlists to yours, or by guest-curating a playlist for another user’s account. Collaborating with other users is a great way to get exposure for your own playlist while also providing value for others.

5. Promote your playlist offline.

In addition to promoting your Spotify playlist online, you can also promote it offline. For example, you could put up flyers in local music venues or hand out business cards with the link to your playlist at concerts or festivals.

Get creative and use less common forms of sharing the playlist, such as a QR code. Or, try promoting one themed playlist at an in-person event like a movie in theaters, an or sporting event that the playlist theme would fit relatively naturally.

6. Participate in Reddit AMAs

Reddit AMAs (Ask Me Anything) are a great way to connect with potential followers and other music lovers from all over the world. Simply find a relevant subreddit and post about your Spotify playlist. Be sure to include a link so people can easily find and follow your playlist.

However, the interaction has to be natural, and not at all like you are forcing your playlist in order to gain more Spotify playlist followers. Simply put, just be genuine when attempting to attract new listeners and new followers.

7. Host a contest

People love contests, so why not host one surrounding your Spotify playlist? For example, you could ask people to share their favorite song from the playlist for a chance to win a prize. This is a great way to get people talking about your playlist and encourage them to follow it.

Gain new followers and engage music artists with contests and prizes

We host contests all the time for our playlists, which can excite a music artist enough to follow the list and also stay up-to-date with new playlists. In fact, if you are a musician, you can actually submit music to us for our playlists for free by clicking here. We are always looking for new, great songs!

8. Use influencers

Influencers are social media users with large followings who can help promote your content to their audience. If you can identify influencers who would be interested in promoting your Spotify playlist, and who have an audience who would likely enjoy the music genres or mood surrounding the curated playlist, then reach out and negotiate a price.

If an upfront payment is too scary, you could always setup a rate to pay based on how many more Spotify playlist followers are earned in a 24 -hour window. Either way, social media influencers are another effective way to reach (and hopefully gain) a large number of potential Spotify followers quickly, but be careful as it can also be expensive.
